Appraisals

"Do you do appraisals?" a question we get all the time! Appraisals are an every day occurrence here at Bremer. We have one of the only American Gem Society accredited Gemological Laboratories in Central Illinois. It takes specific tools and equipment to achieve this prestigious designation. Did you know that engagement rings and fine jewelry often require an appraisal every 3-5 years to be fully covered under a homeowners or renters insurance policy? Let's get that appraisal scheduled today!

Our Seamless Process

Gold Watch

Evaluation

When you come in, our service team will evaluate each piece and make recommendations on which pieces should be appraised.

Gemologist Inspecting Jewelry

Security

Your items will be kept in our vault until Nathan (our gemologist and diamond buyer) performs a full professional appraisal.

Jeweler Doing A Transaction

Official Letter

We provide you with an official cover letter from the AGS Gem Lab and a full description of your items with specs and photos.

How much is an appraisal?

The family at Bremer Jewelry offers two different options for appraisals. If you have an original appraisal from Bremer, all you’ll need is an updated Letter Of Value. Just bring in your item with the copy of your appraisal and we will update for $35. If not, then you'll need a full appraisal from our Gem Lab. Prices vary starting at $50 per item. If all you need is diamond or gold testing, we do that for free while you wait.

What if I have more than one item?

The price will depend on the total number and types of items. The appraisals will range from $50 to $150 per piece. We recommend visiting our stores for a complimentary sorting. We will inspect each piece and use our tools to test diamonds and gold. Then, we can give you an accurate recommendation on what to appraise for insurance and what to skip!

What if I want to sell my item?

If you are considering selling your jewelry, we always recommend bringing it to our Service Department for a complimentary cleaning and inspection. The Bremer team makes offers to purchase jewelry on a case-by-case basis. Bring it in and we will see what opportunities we have! If it's not something that works out for us, then we can advise you on next steps.

Still have questions?

From the time you enter our door to the moment you present the Bremer Jewelry box, we want every moment to be special.
