The journey of a diamond impacts people, the earth, and the diamond itself. You can feel proud to wear a Forevermark diamond because Forevermark is dedicated to ensuring these impacts are positive. Each diamond is traced along its journey to ensure that strict social, environmental, and production standards are met at every step.
As part of The De Beers Group of Companies, Forevermark brings many benefits to families in source countries like South Africa, Canada, Botswana and Namibia. They go above and beyond to ensure that Forevermark diamonds are not only conflict free, but that they help build valuable, sustainable infrastructure in and around the mining communities. Read more…
When considering any potential diamond source, Forevermark requires that it comply with the Kimberley Process, an international monitoring system co-founded by The De Beers Group of Companies to eliminate the trade in conflict diamonds. Compliance requires that detailed records be kept as each diamond passes along the supply chain, including Kimberley Process Certificates and warranty invoices.
Forevermark promises to improve communities surrounding the diamond source. They bring better quality healthcare and education, valuable career opportunities and professional training to areas that otherwise would not have such opportunities. As part of The De Beers Group of Companies, Forevermark helps create rewarding careers as miners, geologists, engineers, trainers, expert craftspeople, managers and support staff. Forevermark also supports a series of enterprise development funds to benefit small and medium sized businesses in South Africa. These are sustainable businesses like farming, jewelry design, food distribution which can remain and thrive even after a diamond mine is gone. Over a third of the people who benefit directly from this development funding are women.
Good healthcare and education are essential for the social and economic development of local communities, and for women and children to thrive. Forevermark partners with local communities to establish hospitals and schools that are open and free to everyone, not just those who work at the mines.
Forevermark is committed to the protection of wild habitats, the species they support, and the wider ecosystems of which they are a crucial part. Everyone at Forevermark adheres to high standards of environmental management. Forevermark also helps to fund vital projects that protect and nurture the beauty and diversity of the natural world.
For every acre of land used for mining by Forevermark’s parent company, The De Beers Group of Companies, five acres are dedicated to the conservation of nature, building thriving ecosystems with healthy populations of native wild animals and plants.
The De Beers Group of Companies has long been dedicated to wildlife conservation in the world’s third most biologically diverse country, South Africa. This is where The De Beers Group of Companies owns and co-funds The Diamond Route, a series of nine beautiful, protected destinations around the their areas of operation. Here, as elsewhere, The De Beers Group of Companies requires that legally designated protected areas and key biodiversity sites be respected, and that there be no mining in World Heritage Core Areas.
Of all of the gifts of nature, water is the most precious and essential to maintaining life on Earth. The De Beers Group of Companies is a co-signatory of the UN Global Compact CEO Water Mandate (2009). In its efforts to help conserve a vital, shared resource, The De Beers Group of Companies also collaborates on local projects, such as World Wildlife Foundation South Africa’s wetland restoration project in the Sand River basin, Limpopo.
Each Forevermark diamond is uniquely inscribed with its own identification number promising that the diamond is beautiful, rare, and responsibly sourced. Forevermark diamonds are hand-selected for their beauty and rarity; each is genuine, untreated and natural. Less than one percent of the world’s diamonds are eligible to become a Forevermark diamond. Forevermark rejects all synthetics and all diamonds that have been artificially enhanced; only those diamonds verified as completely natural can earn the Forevermark inscription. Forevermark diamonds cannot be included in jewelry pieces that include synthetic or treated diamonds.
Proprietary Forevermark Production Control Software automatically tracks and controls each diamond’s progress through the cutting and polishing process. To avoid any possibility of human intervention, the data is recorded automatically in the Forevermark Global Database.
To ensure the accuracy and consistency of results, Forevermark tests each diamond at least five times. Only once these tests have been successfully completed can a diamond be inscribed with the Forevermark icon and unique identification number.
